Dressage in Detail: 3 Video Set (With Dr. Reiner Klimke)Dressage in Detail: 3 Video Set (With Dr. Reiner Klimke)

Mick-the Dressage Percheron- and I really liked this book. He was new to Cavalletti and we wanted to get it right. This book helped us out with the design of Cavalletti, the spacing and the many creative ways you can use them in training.  The latest addition includes a section by Ingrid, the daughter of  Reiner Klimke. Ingrid Klimke explains how Cavalletti can introduce the horse and rider to jumping. Cavalletti can establish the proper rhythm and balance -essential components of upper level jumping -and this book is probably the only written resource to offer the necessary explanation of this important technique!

A Willing Partner

Not all horses are immediate partners. For the most part, this is a privilege and it must be earned. Take time to gt to know your horse or whichever one you fancy at the local stable. Brush him, find out where he likes to be rubbed. You will be rewarded with a better, safer ride.

When Mick first moved in, he was nervous and afraid. Now he seeks out my attention. this took time. I had to observe him and find out what he liked.

Carrots were a start.

Then there was rubbing the underside of his neck.

Gradually we give each other a little more. Now he begs to be lunged. A first he would take off in nervous confusion but now he is calm and receptive.

Horses also need time to mature. Don't expect too much out of a young horse. Mick is nine and just coming into his own.

Nothing good in life is forced.

Meet Mick

Mick is a 17.5 hand Percheron of unknown origin. I got him as a forlorn 5 year old waif. We had a little accident and his training was suspended for a couple of years. Now we are back at it and Mick is determined to show those Warmbloods how to be a great dressage horse. We employ the methods of the clssical masters such as the Spanish Riding School. and Francis Robicion de la Gureniere.
